//Interview with Hera Clatt//
by Maria Andrade - 08/11/07
- Maria: First question is how many times a day do you eat?
- Hera: Probably 8-9 times a day. Ill eat a meal and then a snack. I’m always putting food in my mouth and I’m always hungry.
- Maria: Haha and do you cook the food or do you eat out?
- Hera: I cook a little or I eat frozen foods or can foods once in a while. I’ll sometimes eat out but usually it’s with John.
- Maria: Yea sometimes I tend to eat out or cook frozen foods, so I know what you mean. So how’s the married life so far?
- Hera: Being married is fun. We’ve never lived with each other before we got married, so now its fun because we compare the creams we use and our cleaning styles. Its also fun buying groceries together, which we had never done before. Just being able to experience new things with each other that we never did when we were together, so everything is new again. We even did each others laundry once, and I sort of shrunk one of his shorts, but it’s okay because it happened to him to with my clothes.
- Maria: lol, how funny. So whats the best thing about being married?
- Hera: The best thing about it is that it’s just nice to be together and not say bye to each other and have to go our separate ways to our houses like before when we were just going out. Because we did that for 8 years. We even went to the movies this one time and before my parents use to call me to come home or just to know where I was at, and this time no one calls me now and John and I go home at any time. We’re learning together, so it’s great.
- Maria: That’’s nice, so what about time with God, do you guys still have your separate time with God or do guys worship and pray together?
- Hera: We still have our own separate time with the Lord. I’m more of a morning person, so I spend my time with the Lord in the mornings when Jon is at work and Jon does his at night. But I know we will pray together some time.
- Maria: I’ve always wondered about that would work once your married because you get so use to having your set time, that when your married I figured you would pray together more than alone. But its good to know that you guys still have your own relationship with God, I like that.
So my next question is, what’s your favorite thing about LHC?
- Hera: It would be the closeness and how we are one big family, and how we support each other and encorage one another. Everyone is just friendly and you don’t get lost in the crowed because you’ll know someone no matter where you are.
- Maria: I remember when I first went to LHC I felt loved by people that I had never even met. I still remember meeting your sister and her coming up to me and giving me a hug and she had a big smile, which really made me feel welcomed.
- Hera: Yea its funny because sometimes I don’t know if I should give some one a hug or just a handshake because I don’t if the person likes hugs or not, and I find myself thinking about that when I meet someone for the first time. Should I hug them or should I just shake their hands.
- Maria: Haha. So what are the goals or vision that you see in the ministry at LHC or just anywhere else in general?
- Hera: Right now I know that the Lord has called us to be at LHC and just work with the youth and help the pastors with their vision. We really just want to impact the lives of the youth and we want to see a radical change in them with their walk with God. A change so strong that they will go all out for God all the time. ‘It’s kind of hard to explain.’ I don’t know if God will call us to go somewhere else, but anywhere God calls us we know that our hearts are with the youth.
- Maria: I know exactly what you mean when you say you want to see a radical change in the ways the youth follow God but like you said its hard to explain.
- Maria: So when did you get to know the Lord and How?
- Hera: I grew up in the church and I went to the encounter in 2002 but I truly got to know God for myself when I wet to Bethany which was back in 2004. ‘That was my ultimate breaking point.’ God really opened my eyes that summer. It was one of the most awesome things. Jon and I were not gonna go and at first we went because everyone else was going but when we were there I felt like God really spoke to me and I’m glad we went ‘Praise God we did!!’
- Maria: You know that exactly when the Lord really spoke to me as well. Because I had gone to the encounter and yes I changed and grew in the Lord, but when we went to Bethany the Lord reassured me that I am saved and it was the first time that I felt peace about it.
The last question to is what's the one advice that you would give to the 212 youth with their relationship with God and in finding their one?
- Hera: With their relationship with God, I would say ‘ When times get hard always remember the times God helped you. No matter the situation always come back to him and always remember the cross.’ and in finding their one I would say ‘ If you have to convince them or persuade or work at it to make time believe that they are the one, then they are not the one.’
- Maria: Oh I like that, that’s very true. Well thank you so much sister Hera for taking time time to talk with me.
- Hera: Thank you Maria, it was fun this interview was fun.
